BSCC 071 - Get Well Soon, Mallory!

Jul 24, 2017 - 01:06:36

Welcome to “Pike Check,” our hit new BSCC-spinoff podcast about how ridiculously handsome Mallory’s dad John Pike is. We think this one has a lot of legs, just like John. This episode also contains the definitive diss track that the BSC ghostwriter known as “The Entity Known as Jahnna N. Malcolm” has had coming for about 30 years now, as well as a shocking new revelation about the mysterious events of June 10 and their meaning in Ann’s life. Also, Mallory is not well and the BSC is down to a DANGEROUS 5 members. We get into it. Possible spoilers for The Fly. Music credits:“Reflection,” by Whitesand“Passive Aggressive,” by Soundwell Music“Further Investigation,” by Teknoaxe“Don’t Leave Me,” by Lionel Schmitt“Epic EDM Club Dance,” by Higbie“Love Potion,” by Fasol ProdThanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 070 - Jessi and the Bad Baby-sitter

Jul 17, 2017 - 01:02:39

This week, Tanner is joined in his B____n, N__ Y__k apartment by a very special guest to discuss book #68 in the Baby-Sitter’s Club cycle: Jessi and the Bad Baby-sitter. Has Dawn finally been replaced? Can Wendy Loesser stand up to the immense scrutiny of the BSC? No and no! But we do get some G.C.B.S.F. this week, which is all we can hope for, really. Also in this episode: Bee theory, Green Lanterns (go figure), OWOWing, a special text message appearance from Jack’s friend, Jan, and an even more special appearance from everyone’s favorite low-voiced business men, Dave Daveson and Mark Markson. Music Credits:“My Sharona” MIDI"Powerful Background Presentation Music” by Orbital Music“Blueshift” by Catas & KasgerThanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 069 - Dawn's Big Move

Jul 10, 2017 - 01:05:20

This episode is a time for somber reflection, as the boys gently, diplomatically, and eloquently allow Ann to hear (in the most thoughtful and sober way possible) exactly why what she did to Dawn WILL NEVER BE OK, ANN. NEVER. Also this week, Hodges has gone completely off the deep end, and Jack and Tanner follow him merrily over the edge with a whole slew of powerful and dynamic new segments. There’s also a new player in town, who has Goliath Hardbody shaking in his manly boots. Audio credits:“Lonely Warrior,” by Bausic Productionshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-wpquc5hX0 “Stardust,” by Fox Beathttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvNcvhPbaL8“Don’t Leave Me,” by Lionel Schmitthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRIoo9eHvYgThanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC: Mystery - Mallory and the Ghost Cat

Jul 3, 2017 - 01:13:29

The boys are joined by author Erin Chack this week for a discussion about the hit 1990 film Ghost Dad, the hit 1996 Bone Thugs-n-Harmony song “Tha Crossroads,” A Baby-Sitter’s Club Mystery book, and–surprise, surprise–Jack talks about G.I. BSCC 068 - Maid Mary Anne

Jun 26, 2017 - 01:02:42

It’s a real sewing circle jerk this week, Baby Nation (to use a technical term), and if you happen to be into that sort of thing AND you’re a fan of the 1990 fantasy graphic adventure game “Loom,” this one's really going to be right in your sweet spot. But there’s still plenty to love even for folks who are on the fence about weaving, sewing and weaving/sewing-based videogames because the boys have a whole lot to say about Nicky Pike’s dalliance with the dark side, Dawn’s “looming" departure from the BSC, and the increasingly delightful antics of new fan favorite, Elvira the Goat. Also, we can’t say more about this right now but: WARNING: DO NOT listen to this episode if you have a room with corners. Audio credits:“Jumpin’ Boogie Woogie,” by Audionatixhttp://audionautix.com/index.php“Grieving Viola,” by Bellabethhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsI8JANo2rY“The Legend of Freyja,” by Logan Epic Cantohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Kc39CXUzMU“Never Stand Alone,” by Vindsvepthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etZtF9XW_Gg“Don’t Leave Me,” by Lionel Schmitt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRIoo9eHvYg

BSCC 067 - Stacey's Big Crush

Jun 19, 2017 - 00:55:19

Oh wow! This week, Tanner had to wait over an hour while Jack finished reading the book and setting up his audio, and in that time, he got a little bit silly with some rosé and seltzer. In Stoneybrook, Stacey develops a crush on some dude who may or may not be a half-python-half-man, but also THERE’S A GOAT IN THIS BOOK NAMED ELVIRA AND SHE’S JUST A BABY AND SHE’S VERY GOOD! BSCC 066 - Dawn's Family Feud

Jun 12, 2017 - 01:00:49

Happy Trails, Baby Nation! Jack and Tanner are taking a tour of Boston’s “The Freedom Trail” this week, thanks to the entity known as Jahna N. Malcolm, who co-wrote this novel with Ann. M. Martin and (presumably) The Boston Tourism Board. Unfortunately, Dawn and Mary Anne are at each other’s throats again this week, so the boys distract themselves from that unpleasantness by spending a laudable amount of time Googling to see if the Bible ever mentions weed. BSCC: Mystery - Beware, Dawn

Jun 5, 2017 - 01:09:40

It’s time for another BSC: Mystery, which means it’s time for another interview, except it’s not an interview, because interviewers don’t make their guests read children’s books. Reading “Beware Dawn” with the boys this week are Katie Heaney and Arianna Rebolini, authors of the incredible new book, “Public Relations,” and apparently a very steaming piece of erotic fiction featuring an eel man. Topics of discussion include G.I. Joe used in sex play, celestial beings, bonza sheilas, King Hiss, and much, much more. (Including a little bit of Baby-Sitters Club discussion.) BSCC 065 - Claudia's Friend

May 29, 2017 - 00:56:51

Strap on your best learnin’ hat and get ready for a good, old-fashioned education! This week, Claudia is learning from Stacey about where apostrophes go; Tanner’s learning from Jack about something very dry and almost certainly made up out of whole cloth called “The Lexical Order,” and Jack’s learning from Tanner all about the hit 2001 supernatural horror film “13 Ghosts,” starring the great Matthew Lillard. We also learn what happened to Jackie Rodowsky in his latest dance through the infinite, and the boys learn together just what happens when they muster up all their courage and say something to their beloved wives that they should have said a long, long, long time ago. “Battleships,” by Thomas Wolff Music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1OTLh2RGiA “Run,” by Ross Budgen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujsCRw-eA0o “Rise,” by Ampix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUXjQIUv9KE “You Gotta Have Theremin and Ukulele,” by Squidlord https://soundcloud.com/squidlord/you-gotta-have-theremin-and-ukulele “Morning Sun,” by Nicolai Heidlas Music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDQYljt3mtc “Land of Honor,” by Maxx McGee https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFhmfHMcnAs “Apocalypse,” by Ross Budgen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v29KVjUXiS8 Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 063 - Jessi and the Awful Secret

May 15, 2017 - 01:01:04

A "very special” episode this week, Baby Nation, since Ann – in her infinite wisdom and unaccountable cruelty – decided to throw Jack and Tanner another curveball with a powerful novel about the triple threat of poverty, systemic racism, and teenage eating disorders. But with an exquisite grace worthy of Jessi herself, the boys manage to tiptoe shockingly quickly in the opposite direction of these delicate issues and towards the vastly safer ground of Marvel’s The X-Men, which Ann also foolishly included in this text. And it goes without saying that this whole discussion is positively teeming with horrifying doll creatures, so there’s plenty for everyone to enjoy.    "Cinematic Piano," by AShamaluevMusic "Whistle and Clap," by MorningLightMusic “Chloe’s Lullaby,” by Robert Austin “Disturbing Ballet,” by Creepo TV “Skyline,” by Sam OT   Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 062 - Mary Anne's Makeover

May 8, 2017 - 00:59:06

Mary Anne is finally getting that makeover we’ve been hearing about for so long! We also have reason to believe that Mr. Spier and Logan have a lot more in common than we thought, and that Mr. Spier and the X-Men’s Wolverine have a lot more in common than we thought. He’s the best there is at what he does, and what he does is weird sex play with food. Also, Jack is moving to Texas so nothing else really matters.   Music Credits: “Sepia” by Podington Bear “Red in Black” by Kosta T “Vessel” by Ship Wrek, Zookeepers & Trauzers "A Storm At Eilean Mor" by Jon Luc Hefferman   As always, special thanks to Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC: Mystery – Stacey and the Missing Ring

May 1, 2017 - 01:06:57

It's the first ever Baby-Sitters Club Mystery! And things get very mysterious, very quickly. Stacey McGill has stolen a powerful ring that turns the babysitters against each other. Meanwhile, the boys are attacked by a terrible spectral presence in the room, Tanner spills an entire beer onto his crotch, and it seems almost certain that a fissure has been opened up between our world and the strange parallel universe in which the Baby-Sitters Club Mysteries take place. Jack and Tanner also chat with Kelsey and Holland from Whatever It Takes: A Degrassi Podcast to get their insights on the thousand mystifying mysteries contained within Stacey and the Missing Ring.  Music credits:  “Midnight Story,” by Platinum EDM   Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 061 - Mallory Hates Boys (and Gym)

Apr 24, 2017 - 01:01:14

It's "pandemonium" in Stoneybrook this week! Which means, troublingly, that ALL the demons are back. And, perhaps worse, all the boys are being strange and difficult, which is stressing Mallory out to no end. A guest appearance from some of the business boys over at Goliath Industries does very little to ease the tension, and neither does the extended discussion of alleged boy Logan Bruno's complicated relationship with American sports. Not a good showing for ANY of the boys this week, so it looks like Mallory may well be onto something here.    Music credits:   “Where Did She Go,” by OurMusicBox "Touch The Sky,” by 98.20.11 X Bienkovsky   Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 059 - Dawn Saves the Planet

Apr 10, 2017 - 01:00:00

Your two heavily jet-lagged boys are back in the USA and they're ready to talk about our precious Dawn, Claudia's latest outfit, and saving the planet! Somehow that goes off the rails pretty fast and what we've ended up with here is a surprisingly deep dive into the life and work of the music producer Steve Albini? Sorry about that! Stick around for an appearance by Stoneybrook News's Pulitzer-prize winning correspondent Chuck Whittaker, some profound analysis of the complicated "earring-hierarchy" in the BSC, and, yes, just a little taste of Bread Theory.  Music credits: “Time Police,” by ErikMMusic “Breaking Point,” by PlatinumEDM “Overture,” by Lionheart   Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and a special thank you to Baby Bee Matt, aka WolfKiller for this week’s Heavy Metal outro.

BSCC 058 - Keep Out, Claudia!

Apr 3, 2017 - 00:56:15

There’s some new babies in Stoneybrook this week, and they only thing they love more than Kid Kits is racial purity! That’s right, they’re racist! Like, so awful and racist that it’s almost absurd. Not exactly easy to riff on, but they may be Doll People as well, so at least Ann gave us something to work with. Also, Jackie Rodowsky is starting a band! (When he’s not busy hurtling away from Earth at 99.9% the speed of light on a doomed mission into the cosmos.)   Music Credits:   "Prelude No. 23 in F major” by Steven O’Brien "Prelude No. 23 performed on an out of tune piano” by Steven O’Brien "When Memories Break” by BadWabbitz "Playground Lullaby” by Robert Austin “You Gotta Have Theremin and Ukulele” by SquidLord "Space Oddity (Tribute)” by Steven Ondas “Space Oddity (Cover Version) feat. BSCC 057 - Jessi's Gold Medal

Mar 27, 2017 - 01:02:22

Ever wanted to be a fly on the wall when a couple of flesh-jobs hooked on Synchro and lurking around the meatspace in the dark alleyways of Roppongi, Tokyo, burble their nonsense-talk to one another? Well, you're in luck today, and wouldn't you know it, they're talking about Baby-Sitters Club #55, "Jessi's Gold Medal"! Mostly. They also have a worrying amount to say about Boat Girls, "The Watcher," and a strange little timewalker called Jackie Rodowsky. But that's just the Synchro talking. Anyway, sorry, we were super jet-lagged for this one and it got pretty weird!  Music credits: “Dreamland,” by Whitesand “The Last Frontier,” by Luke West “Feel the Knife,” by Lionel Schmitt “Nightwalker,” by Sentient Pulse “Ultima (Bassketball),” by Binz &Rajangator “Land of Honor,” by Maxx McGee   Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 056 - Mallory and the Dream Horse

Mar 20, 2017 - 01:02:30

This week, Mallory, Jack, and Tanner all dream of horses, and make the mistake of dreaming too small...   "There’s something that we K-PAXians have been around long enough to have discovered. The universe will expand, then it will collapse back on itself, then will expand again. It will repeat this process forever. What you don't you know is that when the universe expands again, everything will be as it is now. Whatever mistakes you make this time around, you will live through on your next pass. Every mistake you make, you will live through again, & again, forever. So my advice to you is to get it right this time around. Because this time is all you have." –Prot, K-PAX   Music Credits:“Pure Swell” by Podington Bear“My Sharona” MIDI “Where Have All The Cowboys Gone” MIDI "Back In Time” by YV “I Need To Start Writing Things Down” by Chris Zabriskie   As always, special thanks to Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 055 - Kristy for President

Mar 13, 2017 - 01:01:43

The boys sit down for a fascinating and thought-provoking discussion about what the perfect government might be, but things get derailed essentially right out of the gate because Tanner has a cold and also, the attention-span of a fly. So, if you came looking to sink your teeth into some political philosophy, prepare to be disappointed, because this ended up being mostly about where Alan Gray fits on a D&D alignment chart, what Karen Brewer's latest business idea is all about, and why all the boy craziest baby-sitters seem to end up alone. Also, there's a new hidden force in Stoneybrook, and it's the scariest yet.  Music credits: “Heartbreak,” by Bauhinian Vibes “Klonkey Donkey,” by Nicolai Heidlas Music   Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 054 - Mary Anne + 2 Many Babies

Mar 6, 2017 - 00:56:30

We hit a record-setting number of segments this week, but what do you expect when you’re dealing with 2 MANY BABIES! (We’re still not totally sure what that title is supposed to mean, but don’t worry, we never get around to discussing it.) This week, Mary Anne and Logan get married and kiss in front of their classmates, an egg-napper is on the loose in Stoneybrook, and there may be a new queen ascending who could be the songstress Adele!   Audio Credits:   "Lurking in the Depths" by Grumpy Music "Horror Creepy Children Shouting" by SoundEffectsFactory "Glitch Drone FX” by Glitch Noise Effects "The Wide Drone” by RoyaltyFreeSounds "Entrance to the Queen of Sheba for Two Oboes, Strings” by Georg Friedrich Händel “My Sharona” MIDI “Mad World” MIDI   "bicycle 2D" by Anes & Bateaux “Savage” by Paul Flint     Thanks to Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

Today we're diving deep into the mysterious case of Pete's misguided infatuation with Laine Cummings, Stacey McGill's surprisingly awful ex-best friend. BSCC 052 - Dawn’s Big Date

Feb 20, 2017 - 00:58:58

After the long, dark night of the soul, we finally have a New Dawn, Baby Nation. And despite the fact that she looks a little like a late era Axl Rose, she’s captured the attention of a new Bruno named Lewis. Can Dawn escape the thrall of Lewis Bruno? Can Mary-Ann just chill for, like, a second? Can we find Norman Hill a new family? Well, your guess is as good as ours. Tanner had to do a LOT of Googlin’ this week.   Audio credits: “Trickledown” by Podington Bear ”Be Together” by Zaza “Overture” by Lionheart "My Sharona" MIDI   Special thanks to Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 051 - Claudia and the Genius of Elm Street

Feb 13, 2017 - 00:58:27

Let go of your hearts this week, Baby Nation, and for good measure let go of your heads as well, because this episode is a giant trust fall through space and time into a strange and glorious future. If that worries you, here are some discussion questions to keep you grounded: Is Claudia's art derivative or is she making a deliberate point about the anxiety of influence? Can Janine be stopped before she creates an artificial intelligence that destroys the world? And did you know that when it snows my eyes become large and the light that you shine can't be seen? BSCC: Little Sister - Karen’s Kittycat Club

Feb 9, 2017 - 00:35:45

A very special bonus "Little Sister, Little episode," a phrase which Jack and Tanner utter about 700 times during this particular conversation because, frankly, they would not pass a field sobriety test if the podcast police dropped by during this recording. Luckily, their good buddies Goliath Hardbody and Jason Jasonson are there to keep them on track and bring you an insightful and thought-provoking insider's analysis of Karen Brewer's disruptive new startup, the Kittycat Club.  Music credits: “Funny Song,” by Royalty Free Music “Don’t Leave Me,” by Lionel Schmitt

Difficult episode this week, Baby Nation! And not just because of the subject matter, which is TOUGH, but also because apparently every single airplane in America decided to buzz by Jack’s apartment during this recording session?! Look, this episode is mostly about Jack and Tanner doing their best NOT to talk about childhood cancer, but Ann insisted. Oh well.   Music Credits: "Arboles" by Podington Bear “Wren” by Podington Bear “Haunted” by CO.AG Music “YO!” by Stratus   Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 049 - Mallory on Strike

Jan 30, 2017 - 00:56:28

There's no easy way of saying this, Baby Nation, but Mallory is over it. She's sick and tired of her abundant chores, the endless parade of babies she's required to sit, and the constant, relentless terror of living in a parallel-universe nightmare town, infested with living dolls, chaos dinosaurs, and as of recently, wolves. Stick around for all of that, as well as a very important PSA from Jack and Tanner about exactly how much time you should be putting in at the office, because some of us may have misunderstood the rules on that one.    Music Credits:   “Triumph of Hope,” by Bausic Productions “Mary’s Little World,” by Ryan Creep “Sky,” by PlatinumEDM “Don’t Leave Me,” by Lionel Schmitt   Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 048 - Mary Anne Misses Logan

Jan 23, 2017 - 00:56:06

We’re considering changing the name of the show to “The Pete Black Club” because we discovered our favorite character in the entire series this week. Here’s all the rad stuff Pete Black did this week: Burned Cokie Mason, worked on his part of the school project, and found a way for Tanner to mention Bread Theory. There’s some other less important characters in this book like Mary Anne and Logan and a toilet monster, but we can’t really remember what they got up to because we were so laser focused on Pete Black’s antics.   Music Credits: “Detroit" by Podington Bear "Party Hard” by Mike L “Constellation" by Podington Bear “My Sharona” MIDI Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 047 - Kristy and the Baby Parade

Jan 16, 2017 - 00:57:39

It's been awhile since we had some good, clean baby-sitting fun, but that's what Kristy always brings to the table, and this "Baby Parade" lark is no different. Sit back, relax, and enjoy what can only be described as a romp, as Kristy Thomas pits baby against baby in a bloody, catastrophic battle for the future of civilization, while Jack and Tanner have a good, old-fashioned gossip sesh about Communism and Killer Dolls.    Music Credits:   “Spooky Ride,” by Twin Musicom “8-Bit Black Parade,” by 8-Bit Sound “Electro Upbeat EDM,” by Metro “Red Army Choir Russian National Anthem,” by Yurttan Haberler   Thanks as always to original Baby Boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and to Superbrat for the outro music.

Have the boys got a special treat for you, Baby Nation! Did you know that Jack and Tanner are actually officials with the Parisian government? It’s true! And they have an opportunity of a lifetime for you. For just 500,000 Francs, you can buy the rights to all the scrap metal on the Eiffel Tower to do with what you please. DO NOT PASS UP THIS CHANCE, BABY NATION!   Music Credits: “Meditation” by Joshua Messick "Tomorrow Comes" by Dana Boulé "You Gotta Have Theremin and Ukulele” by SquidLord "Invincible” by Deaf Kev “Starling" by Podington Bear   Thanks, as always, to original baby boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC: Little Sister - Karen’s Worst Day

Jan 5, 2017 - 00:35:52

Another very special bonus mini-episode hosted by the great Tanner Daniel Greenring! Jack is also present. This week, the boys are discussing "Karen's Worst Day," a terrifying thought experiment by Ann M. Martin about a world in which literally everything goes horrifyingly, irrevocably wrong.  Music credits: “Intense Suspense,” by Audionatix

BSCC 045 - Stacey's Emergency

Jan 2, 2017 - 00:53:32

We've come to the end of the road for our friend Anastasia McGill. Ann M. Martin's mercy is infinite, but her patience is not, and if one of these baby-sitters was going to get the  ol' "Ned Stark" treatment, it was basically always going to be Stacey. Jack and Tanner spend most of the episode grappling with their guilt about the fact that they don't really miss her all that much, and Jack desperately and somewhat pathetically tries to gin up a conversation about German philosophy.  Music credits:    “Drama Track 10,” by Mohammed Monir “Don’t Leave Me,” by Lionel Schmitt “Hype,” by Spire Wolf   Thanks, as always, to original baby boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 044 - Jessi and the Dance School Phantom

Dec 26, 2016 - 00:52:28

A shadow lurks in the wings while Jessi Ramsey dances for her life on stage... Jack and Tanner receive a mysterious smuggled message from an unexpected source... And the baby-sitters have a pet show! Really just a stunning amount of content in this book. Enough to make you wonder whether some nefarious entity behind the scenes might just be pushing Ann M. Martin a little bit too hard.  Music credits:  “Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta,” by Bela Bartok “AnonymOus,” by Snowbird    Thanks, as always, to original baby boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC: Secret Santa - Secret Episode

Dec 22, 2016 - 00:34:25

Ho Ho Ho! And welcome to a very special holidays episode of the Baby-Sitters Club Club. Ole’ Saint Ann squeezed down the chimney to give Baby Nation the gift of the Baby-Sitters Club Secret Santa book, which Jack and Tanner read and discuss this week, just in time for Christmas. Then the boys find some holiday joy in their hearts and give some Secret Santa gifts to one another as well! In fact, Jack WANDERS right into Tanner’s trap when he gets his very special gift on this bonus episode. Thanks, as always, to original baby boy Scott Lamb for the intro music!

BSCC 043 - Mary Anne Vs. Logan

Dec 19, 2016 - 00:52:21

Love is dead, and Mary-Anne and Logan are the two who killed it. That’s right baby nation, your second-favorite duo is no more (your first-favorite being Jack and Tanner, of course)and a new life is coming to Stoneybrook, which means an old life must be extinguished. Nice knowing you, Stacey! Also, Saint Martin blesses us with a new rule mechanic for Wandering Frog People that should make the game a little more exciting in the coming weeks.  Music credits: “Tucson” by Silent Partner “Canary” by Jim Yosef “ILY” by Axol Thanks, as always, to original baby boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 042 - Claudia and the Middle School Mystery

Dec 12, 2016 - 00:52:44

Claudia Kishi may or may not have cheated on a test, but that's not the only crime against humanity we're experiencing this week! Tanner learned a "fun" new kind of Pig-Latin from the Pike children, and Jack literally can. not. shut. up. about what "Theory of Justice" Ann M. Martin subscribes to, so both of these boys are up before the court right alongside cheatin' Claudia, asking that you find it in your deep and expansive hearts to forgive them.  Music credits: “Thunderbolts of Lightning,” by teknoaxe “Battle Cry,” by NGB “Overture,” by Lionheart   Thanks, as always, to original baby boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 041 - Poor Mallory!

Dec 5, 2016 - 00:48:18

Jack and Tanner are together again recording in the same space this week. In fact, they’re recording in Jack’s “study” which is a cozier space that usual, so things get a little… intimate. This week, the boys discuss the works of Dickens, the simmering war between the newest factions, and get ready for the BSCC’s most dynamic theory to date: BREAD THEORY.   Music credits:   "Bagpipes of Nostaglia” by TYLTK "Mazurka in D major” by Frédéric Chopin - Performed by Edward Neeman “Melancholia” by Ryan Creep "You're Not My Dad! BSCC 040 - Kristy's Mystery Admirer

Nov 28, 2016 - 00:48:59

Deep inside Stoneybrook Middle School is a waypoint, a marker in time from which a thousand timelines diverge, like ripples in a stream. It's where the dance is: The still point of the turning world. The dance in this case is the Halloween Hop, and the ripple in time that we're focused on this week is a ripple in which someone sent Kristy fingernail clippings in the mail, which I guess is what amounts to romance these days. Anyway, Kristy has a mystery admirer, and it's creepier than that sounds.  Music credits: “Electro Breaks Loop,” by Technoaxe, CC “Miles Away,” by Oxzide, CC “Road Less Traveled,” by Jonny Easton, CC   Thanks, as always, to original baby boy Scott Lamb for the intro music, and Superbrat for the outro music.

BSCC 039 - Dawn and the Older Boy

Nov 21, 2016 - 00:48:45

Tanner checks in with Jack all the way from Paris to talk about Dawn's latest escapade with a gross older man named Travis. It's a Dawn book, so there are some inevitable religious undertones to deal with, but the main issue is the creepiness of Dawn and Travis's relationship, a topic that is treated with all the gravity that Tanner's atrocious French accent can muster.  Music credits: “Happy Chances,” by Nicolai Heidlas  “Let the Beat Drop,” by Anton Markus

BSCC 038 - Jessi's Baby-Sitter

Nov 14, 2016 - 00:48:56

Are all of us simply “the sat,” whose collective will is bent and shaped by the whims of some grand, cosmic Sitter, or do we shape our own destinies? Do we exist in some liminal state between the two, all of us both Sitter and Sat? Perhaps each of us is just living out a different manifestation of one of Jackie Rodowsky’s multitudinous lives? Find out the answers to all these questions on this week’s Baby-Sitter’s Club Club. Music Credits: "Scenes from Childhood, Op. 15 - XII. Oct 31, 2016 - 00:45:58

Happy Halloween, Baby Nation! Have we got a thematically appropriate episode for you this week! With the help of the Baby-Sitter's Club, Stacey discovers that Stoneybrook is build on an ancient burial ground, which is somehow the LEAST strange thing to happen in this book. Oh! Also, you all have a tough decision to make this week, Baby Nation: BURN or BEES. BSCC 035 - Mary Anne and Too Many Boys

Oct 24, 2016 - 00:49:30

What should have been a nice, relaxing vacation to Sea City, New Jersey, turns into a catastrophe due to an unwieldy number of boys gumming up the works. Stacey gets straight-up dumped by local "nice guy" Toby (no known last name), Jackie Rodowsky faces his most desperate mission yet, and Mary Anne cries her way through another low-level crisis. Known boys, Tanner Greenring and Jack Shepherd, try their very best to unpack it all for you in BSCC #35, Mary Anne and Too Many Boys.  Music credits: “Alone,” by G-nit Beatz “Galactic Empire,” by Michael J. Oct 17, 2016 - 00:47:35

“There are other worlds than these. That we are drawn there again and again has to do with the rose. I have no doubt of that, nor do I doubt that in some way I do not understand the rose is the Dark Tower.” - The Dark Tower: Wolves of the Calla This week Jack and Tanner talk about their favorite memes, a startling new artificial intelligence in Stoneybrook, the glaring, blood-colored field of roses still far from here, and the frightening rate at which the Mimi virus self-replicates and finds new human hosts to infect.  Music Credits: “#Ambient” by fave. BSCC 033 - Kristy and the Secret of Susan

Oct 10, 2016 - 00:48:46

Stoneybrook is resplendent with colorful new characters, including Susan, who secretly struggles to find meaning in a world that makes no sense. This week, Jack and Tanner return to some old favorites when they discuss the bees we find in every corner of our lives, what Australians eat for brekky, and the horrifying, ongoing significance of June 10th.   Make sure to catch Jack and Tanner's guest appearances on the Real Weird Sisters podcast as well, where they sort the citizens of Stoneybrook into Hogwarts houses.   Find that here: http://www.realweirdsisters.com/sortinghatbsc/   Music Credits:   "Clair de Lune" by Claude Debussy, performed by Laurens Goedhart   "Dubstep Cello | Prelude from Suite No. 1 for Cello" by J.S. BSCC 032 - Dawn's Wicked Stepsister

Oct 3, 2016 - 00:48:09

And it came to pass that Dawn and Mary Anne didn't enjoy sharing a bedroom as much as they thought they would. And Dawn in her righteousness did take the socks of Mr. Spier and pair them in such a way that they might be odd. And Jack and Tanner did look upon what Dawn had wrought, and they did pronounce it the sickest of burns. Also, things get kind of spooky, so maybe listen to this one with the lights on. Why the hell were you listening in the dark anyway? Sep 26, 2016 - 00:48:12

And Jack and Tanner went to one another this week to discuss "Mary Anne and the Great Romance." Sep 19, 2016 - 00:48:11

Listen to two ghostly voices, trapped in amber, echoing out from the murky abyss that is the Baby-Sitters Club Club podcast. This week Mallory finds a diary, talks to a ghost, and teaches a young boy to read. Also this week, Jack and Tanner become U.S. citizens, burn their faces off, and confront Princeton’s own Ann M. Martin about her whereabouts on the evening of June 10, 1958.

BSCC 029 - Welcome Back, Stacey!

Sep 12, 2016 - 00:49:26

Guess who's back (Stacey's back). And there's not a whole lot we can do about it. Did Mimi have to die to make this happen? Does this mean that our beloved Mr. Spier is going to fall under the siren spell of Stacey's mom? Is it nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous Stoneybrook? Or is the best course of action to take arms against Mr. McGill, and by opposing, end him? Also, what the heck happened to those French Witch hunters? This episode is dedicated to the memory of our bravest little explorer, Jackie Rodowsky, (17 March 1880 – 17 March 1912). Music credits:   "Salsa n’ Samba," by R. BSCC 028 - Jessi and the Superbrat

Sep 5, 2016 - 00:47:15

Think of Stoneybrook (if you don't already) as a lovely, welcoming bird's nest. Now imagine that a wicked cuckoo has passed its boundaries and laid a great big vile, impostor cuckoo's egg right inside that sacred nest. That's literally (LITERALLY) what happens this week when an entity called JOHN (aka The Superbrat) hatches inside our beautiful home and sets about destroying dear Jessi's life. Of course, if we'd only paid attention we would have known, because, as is ever the case in the Baby-Sitters Cycle, it was foretold.  Music credits:   "The Inner Demon," by Lionel Schmitt & ProjectSam, CC  MidiWorld.com "Rituals," by Warrio, CC "Crystal," by Zerryx & Midgranger, CC

BSCC 026 - Mary Anne and the Search for Tigger

Aug 22, 2016 - 00:48:44

Everybody, in one way or another, is searching for a "Tigger" in their lives – for some people, the Tigger they are searching for is true love, for others, it's success, and for still others, it's a more inscrutable "meaning." In Mary Anne's case, it's her cat. Who went missing. BSCC 024 - Dawn on the Coast

Aug 8, 2016 - 00:49:48

Dawn is forced to choose between the grey purgatory of Stoneybrook and the breathtaking paradise of California. Which is upsetting for Jack and Tanner because they frankly didn't realize they had a choice when they decided to spend every passing moment living, breathing, and dreaming about Stoneybrook. Besides, how can any of us think about leaving when we're still not sure whether Mr. Spier can get it together and tell Dawn's mom how he feels BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.  Music Credits: Sadness, by Vak Karapeshian, CC Holy is the Lord of Host Union Choir, CC Love You Forever, by Yu Hsing Jow, CC Manslaughter, by Irish Zombie Pirates, CC Distorted Mirrors, by Moritz Demmer, CC   And of course, Scott Lamb for our theme music.

Aug 1, 2016 - 00:49:31

It's CIVIL WAR, which means it's time to pick sides, Baby Nation. Are you yearning for change like the Jacks and Mary Annes of this world? Even if it leads to corruption and incompetence? Or are you looking for a strong leader like Tanner and Kristy are? Even if it means giving up some of your civil liberties? Or are you more of a Jessi, just trying to do your damn job while the club crumbles around you? Where do your allegiances lie? Plus, the boys discuss the gory ritual of ear-piercing, the troubling spectre of new babysitters on the horizon, and the frankly insane ensemble Claudia put together for this installment. Jul 11, 2016 - 00:47:32

This week, Jack and Tanner meet to discuss the very complex mechanical and metaphysical implications of traversing the Planes of Chaos, also known as the Immaterium, from the Warhammer 40k universe, and whether or not the human mind is capable of making sense of a senseless reality where the laws of motion and energy do not apply. But, then we cut all that out, so I guess you'll just have to listen to them talk about The Baby-Sitters Club books instead.   Jack's re-cap song is "Touch" by Mattia Cupelli The Burn of the Week song is "Tell Me" by Killercats The Signs and Signifiers music is by Paul the Trombonist

Just your typical, high-energy, enthusiastic Jack and Tanner having a lively discussion about the next book in the Baby-Sitter's Club series: "Stacey's Mistake!" Your wise-crackin' hosts Jackie and The Weasel are back again with more hilarious banter about their favorite topics from the wide world of "American Sports." And if that's not appealing to you demanding little monsters, they also spend a good chunk of time talking about the BSC's brand-new babysitter Jessi Ramsey, the infinite sadness of Claudia Kishi, and their own deep, heartfelt feeeeeeeelings. BSCC 016 - Little Miss Stoneybrook... and Dawn

Jun 13, 2016 - 00:45:15

Kind of a segment-heavy week this week, but what do you expect when you're trying to impress the judges of the Little Miss Stoneybrook Pageant? The babysitters each Dance Mom their own contestant in the pageant in this book, and things get (surprise, surprise) a little fraught. Don't worry too much though, because there's plenty of dangerous occult action and Marxist subtext to help ease the tension.

May 30, 2016 - 00:46:33

There's a new girl in Stoneybrook named Ashley Wyeth, and she's captured the attention of a certain young babysitter named Claudia. But, more importantly, there's a newcomer to the podcast as well named Goliath Hardbody, and we think you listeners are really going to like him. This week, the girls (and by extension, the boys) dive deep into the world of paranormal activity, cause there's a ghost y'all, and it's living in Dawn's crawl space, and it's eating ice cream, and doing a bunch of other things you'd expect a 9-year-old boy to do. On unrelated news, 9-year-old Nicky Pike keeps disappearing and hiding in an unknown location.

This shouldn't come as any surprise to you if you've listened to the last seven episodes, but they have a hard time staying on topic. Mar 28, 2016 - 00:44:43

Tanner and Jack travel all the way to Germany, the birthplace of modern Lutheranism, to discuss the thinly veiled religious text that is book five of The Baby-sitter's Club, "Dawn and the Impossible Three." Tanner has a few too many helles biers and ends up role playing as an adult escort. Things get a little weird.

Has The Agency risen to power again, threatening to destroy the club once and for all? Is it just a spat between a few friends based on a misunderstanding? You'll have to listen to find out!

Mar 14, 2016 - 00:43:09

This week, Jack and Tanner get to the bottom of the truth about Stacey, and uncover a few truths about themselves along the way. Just kidding! They definitely don't have the emotional intelligence required for any sort of meaningful introspection. They just make dumb jokes instead. Special thanks to Baby Boy #1 Scott Lamb for the theme tune, and Baby Girl #1 Andrea Hickey for the cover art!
