FC Cincinnati's Stormy Weekend

Jul 26, 2017 - 01:06:22

What a weekend for FC Cincinnati. First, they had to deal with not one but TWO weather delays on Saturday night. Plus, 48 hours later they faced off against Valencia from Spain’s La Liga. All while celebrating the football career of Omar Cummings. Oh yeah, I painted up too. What a weekend! Get downloading today! DON’T FORGET! Get your “Hell is Real” shirts today. Click here to order! Highlights from this week’s show. Bill, Boston and I recap a very crazy Saturday night. From 90 degree heat to lots of lightning, there was a lot going on during FC Cincinnati’s match against Harrisburg City Islanders. In the end of FC Cincinnati prevailed thanks to goals by Djiby, Konig, and McLaughlin. Even more awesome was that Mitch Hildebrandt notched his 10th Widmers Cleaners Clean Sheet of the season! I was a man of my word and yes I actually painted up this weekend. It was an absolute blast this weekend and more importantly, FC Cincinnati got the 3 points! My thanks to Ben Knapp who waxed me. Thanks to Tom Grabo who painted me. Thanks to Chris Weimer for painting up with me. Thanks to Stevie for entertaining me during the weather delays. If I missed thanking anyone, I’m sorry, just know that I am thankful for everyone! We also talked about the retirement of Omar Cummings. What a career the Big Cat had. From his MLS Championship in Colorado to now, it’s been quite the ride. Congrats on calling it a career! The Valencia game to many was a dud, many thought it was amazing. It’s odd to see how polarizing this topic has become. The CST crew discuss whether or not this is something FC Cincinnati should do every year or maybe space it out between years. What say you? FC Cincinnati Gets 3 Huge Points against Louisville

Jul 19, 2017 - 01:09:27

On this week’s show, we take a look back at the big River Cities Cup match between FC Cincinnati and Louisville City FC. A game that saw FC Cincinnati put 3 goals on Louisville and give them their first home loss of the season. We also look ahead to Harrisburg City this coming weekend. Plus, I make another announcement on the podcast. Get downloading folks! DON’T FORGET! Get your “Hell is Real” shirts today. Click here to order! Highlights from this week’s show. We welcome in Ben Knapp into the CST mix. You may recognize Ben as the genius behind the Skills Challenge video we posted a few weeks ago. You can watch it HERE. Boston and Yosief are along for the ride as well this week. Boston fully admits to possibly throwing a streamer onto the outfield warning track at Slugger Field. How dare he. We looked back at a solid performance by FC Cincinnati despite going down a goal inside the first 10 minutes of the match. No guests this week but we did take a lot of great and let’s face it funny calls this week. Tom Grabo from RGFK.org called in. You know Tom as the Cincy Super Fan. Tom will be painting me up this week for the Harrisburg City Islanders match because of me losing a bet just like Bryan Weigel. I’ll be honored to paint up with Tom and Chris Weimer from the Bailey Bastards. Should be a great time this weekend. If see me say hi! We look ahead to the match against Harrisburg. It was kind of nice this week on the podcast to only have to talk about two matches for once. Want to take part in the CST Growler Cup? YOU can STILL take part! Lindsay Patterson Visits CST

Jul 12, 2017 - 01:30:23

What’s up CST’ers!? Who’s ready for a big night in Miami on Wednesday night? Who’s ready to thrash that team down south on Saturday? On this week’s show we’re visited by the very talented Lindsay Patterson who you’ve seen roaming the sidelines and getting great interviews on TV and Radio. Get downloading folks! WE HAVE AN EPISODE CAPTAIN THIS WEEK!!!Huge thanks to Jamie Smed for wearing the armband for this episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk. YES, even you can wear the armband in a future episode by signing up to support us today! Highlights from this week’s show. Bill, Brad, Boston and I recap the 2-0 win over the Richmond Kickers. It was the first time in franchise history that FC Cincinnati has gotten all 3 points against the Kickers. Djiby pretty much put the match out of reach in the 3′ minute with his quick strike goal off a great assist from Kenney Walker. Give credit to Richmond though, they kept it close till the wheels fell off late. Lindsay Patterson is a talented, versatile, energetic broadcaster and has been on the airwaves for quite some time. She’s midway through her 2nd season as the FC Cincinnati sideline reporter for TV and Radio broadcasts. Lindsay took a few moments out of her very busy schedule to join us on CST. It was great to hear how she approaches matches, what goes on during the match, how she gets access to the team, etc. She even drops a bombshell about Skyline Chili. It was great having her on and can’t wait to do it again. We got some great callers, as we always do on CST. Our old pal “Bill Grindesto” gave us a ring this week. Love hearing about his weekly shenanigans. Hard to look past Louisville City but with Miami FC tomorrow night man does this weekend’s game really kind of get forgotten? Louisville City is the further thing from my mind at this point. I’m sure that’s the case for the boys in orange and blue too. Want to take part in the CST Growler Cup? YOU can STILL take part! The Florida Road Trip Begins

No episode captain this week. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk, support us today! Highlights from this week’s show. Bill, Bryan, Yosief and I discuss our emotions before, during and after FC Cincinnati’s thrilling penalty shootout victory over the Chicago Fire. I’m still not over that match and it’s been a few days. WOOOOO what a game.We took some phone calls from fans of the show, including Chris Weimer who has upped the ante regarding myself and loads and loads of paint. It WILL happen at some point. Plus We took some phone calls from fans of the show, including Chris Weimer who has upped the ante regarding myself and loads and loads of paint. It WILL happen at some point. Plus Yerksy calls in to discuss Eric Stevenson who got the RARE start last week against Chicago. We looked back at the 1-1 draw against Orlando City B on Saturday night. After going 210 minutes last week without conceding a goal, FC Cincinnati concedes after 3 minutes to City. In the words of Mama Seubs, “Well, there goes my Growler Cup prediction.” Yep, I’m sure a lot of you felt that way. We look ahead to this week’s big game on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rowdies followed by another home match on Sunday against the Richmond Kickers. Fun fact about Richmond. Since the last time FC Cincinnati player the Kickers, Richmond has only managed 3 total points in the standings. Count em, 3 whole points. 3 draws. That’s it. That explains why they’re currently sitting 14th out of 15 Eastern Conference teams. Want to take part in the CST Growler Cup? YOU can STILL take part! CST Live from Tifo Night!

Jun 28, 2017 - 00:50:41

Does it get any better than this? FC Cincinnati hosting the Chicago Fire tonight, on the Worldwide Leader, AND CST was live at Tifo Night??? What a week if you’re a fan of FC Cincinnati. Get downloading folks! No episode captain this week. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk, support us today! Highlights from this week’s show. We start our first Tuesday night show ON LOCATION at the American Sign Museum and what a treat that was! If you haven’t been, it’s a must see attraction in my book. What a great venue to host an event. Hat tip to Kevin from the American Sign Museum for being super helpful getting us all set up for our show. Tuesday night was the first time I’ve had the chance to record a podcast in person with the CST crew and it was a blast. It needs to happen more often. We started the show off by taking a look back at last weekend’s 2-0 win over Saint Louis FC. We have their number outscoring them 10-1 all-time in the series. Not bad. Unfortunately we didn’t have the ability to take phone calls, however, we did have a mic setup for the Kings Hammer Hotshot. Fans at Tifo Night had the chance to chime in this week. We had some great questions from Todd, Dave, Ken Hoetker from CST, Matt, Chris, it was good to hear from so many folks this week. Did you know that FC Cincinnati plays Chicago Fire tonight? Not sure if you’ve heard that yet or not. 25,000 tickets have already been sold for tonight’s game! That’s awesome! Brad, Bill and I debate what kind of lineup we’ll see from Chicago, particularly whether or not Bastian Schweinsteiger will play. We also look ahead to next week’s Florida road trip as FC heads down to the Sunshine State for a pair of games against Orlando City B and the Tampa Bay Rowdies. Jeff Berding is Real

Jun 21, 2017 - 01:21:06

Jeff Berding has been the most frequent guest on this podcast, for good reason too. When he comes on he brings it! This episode is a must listen! Get downloading this podcast today! No episode captain this week. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk, support us today! Highlights from this week’s show. We start the show off with a bang and visit right away with FC Cincinnati President and General Manager, Jeff Berding. Jeff talks about a number of topics on this week’s podcast. He dives deep into everything surrounding the stadium. From the design, to where it will ultimately end up. Jeff is open an honest and talks about his desire to build a world-class facility for fans of FC Cincinnati. We take phone calls from lots of FC Cincinnati fans who want to chime in about where the stadium should be located. We heard from folks who live in Kentucky but say that the stadium should be built on the Ohio side of the river. Max is a very vocal fan who has made it very clear his desire to have the stadium remain in Cincinnati. I absolutely love the dialogue and debate this is stirring up. Want to have your say? Join the live show and call in some time! Despite the great result last week against Crew SC, FC Cincinnati could only muster up a home draw against the Charleston Battery. Their league form right now isn’t great as they are currently right on that line between a playoff team and going home early with no postseason. They need to start picking up points, and in a hurry. Kenney Walker, FC Cincinnati Face the Crew

Jun 14, 2017 - 01:10:58

Much like last week’s podcast episode, we’re not really sure why or how it took 69 episodes to get Kenney Walker on the show but are we glad we did! By the way, did you hear that FC Cincinnati face the Crew Wednesday night? Get downloading this podcast today! No episode captain this week. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk, support us today! Highlights from this week’s show. We start the show off discussing last weekend’s 1-1 draw at home to Charlotte. Considering that last weekend was basically a throwaway game with all of the squad rotation, you figure that FC Cincinnati would come out firing on all cylinders, rested and ready to go at home. Yeah, we got that one wrong. Joining us on the Kings Hammer Hotline this week is special guest, Kenney Walker, midfielder from FC Cincinnati. Kenney talks about growing up in Ohio and how he was never really a fan of the Crew. He knows this is a big game between the two sides, and all though he stays off social media, he hears everything that’s going down between the two fanbases. He also admitted on this very program his true feelings about Skyline Chili. FC Cincinnati on Monday unveiled their soccer-specific stadium plans and, surprise surprise, it involved Newport, KY. Our own Boston was there at the event and gave us the full report here.  Want to take part in the CST Growler Cup? YOU can STILL take part! FC Cincinnati's Austin Berry

Jun 8, 2017 - 01:06:03

Not really sure how it took us 68 episodes to get “The Captain” on the program but we finally did. FC Cincinnati’s Austin Berry joined us this week! Get downloading today! This week’s episode is brought to you by the Cincinnati Dutch Lions. Get your tickets for home matches this year at NKU by logging on to cdlfc.com. Speaking of Captains, no episode captain this week. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk, support us today! Highlights from this week’s show. We start the show off with a bang discussing last weekend’s 1-0 loss to Rochester. Boston held nothing back when it comes to the FC Cincinnati goalkeepers. Many of us weren’t surprised at the squad rotation over the weekend and understood why it needed to be done. Joining us on the Kings Hammer Hotline this week is special guest, Austin Berry, defender and team captain from FC Cincinnati. Austin talks about his year in 2017, specifically the fact that he’s been able to stay healthy compared to last year. He credits his offseason routine for helping him stay fit this season. He also confirms a rumor about the Nippert Stadium turf. Austin also discusses his favorite player growing up, Thierry Henry, who starred for Arsenal, Barcelona and the New York Red Bulls in MLS. It was announced, finally, this week that FC Cincinnati will play host to another international friendly. This time it’s Valencia from Spain’s La Liga who will be taking on the orange and blue. PLUS, it was revealed this week that with FC Cincinnati’s win over that team down south in the US Open Cup, that I will, in fact, be painting up for a match sometime this summer. I’m apologizing to the Queen City in advance. With that win though, FC Cincinnati gets to host THE COLUMBUS CREW! Bring it on! Plus it means another Widmers Cleaners Clean Sheet. Second half subs changed the game for FC Cincinnati. We opened up the phones this week for a CST Free-For-All. Basically, anyone could call in, tweet in, email in anything they wanted to talk about related to FC Cincinnati. We had some great calls including Steven who wanted to talk about Daryl Fordyce and the position he SHOULD be playing. Also, Olivia was thrilled she didn’t have to talk about red cards this week but was bummed to hear that Andy Craven appears to be heading out of Cincy for a move to OKC Energy. Yersky called in and wanted to chat about the struggles on the road for FC Cincinnati. Bring the Noise - FC Cincinnati's Home Opener

Apr 12, 2017 - 01:07:04

Well. Sunday couldn’t have gone much worse. An early injury, an early red card. Just wasn’t FC Cincinnati’s day. This week on the podcast we’re joined by Andrew Wiedeman! He’s ready to rock Nippert on Saturday night. This week’s episode is brought to you by the Cincinnati Dutch Lions FC. Learn more about the Dutch Lions at cdlfc.com. No Episode Captain this week. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk, support us today! Highlights from this week’s show. Bryan finally caves and admits he’ll be “painting up” this weekend for the home opener at Nippert Stadium on Saturday night when FC Cincinnati host Saint Louis FC. Pictures, or it never happened Bryan! The one and only Andrew Wiedeman joined us again on the podcast. Amazingly enough it was one year ago TODAY that Andrew joined us on CST for the first time. Crazy how that all worked out. Andrew had a lot of great things to say this week about the upcoming home opener. He’s looking forward to playing in front of a packed house at Nippert Stadium and in his words wants you to “bring the noise”. He understands the frustrations of a lot of fans after the slow start to the season but is asking for patience as new faces on the team haven’t had time to gel. He also revealed his feelings toward Skyline Chili. We look back at the 2-0 result in Bethlehem. There wasn’t too much to be said about that game so we quickly moved on to callers and looked ahead to Saint Louis FC this weekend. For an even greater in-depth look at our opponent, this week make sure you download our “March to Matchday” podcast which will be available Thursday. Last, but certainly not least, we were joined by Fox from the Knights of the Bailey. Fox is a mainstay in the Bailey on the drums. He filled us in on some of the new chants he’s looking forward to singing this weekend. YES! The Growler Cup has returned and more importantly, YOU can STILL take part! Daryl Fordyce Enjoys Cincinnati's Restaurants

Apr 5, 2017 - 01:03:56

FC Cincinnati gets 3 points on the road and more importantly keep a clean sheet against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Plus we’re joined by Daryl Fordyce, one of the newest members of FC Cincinnati’s offensive attack. Download it today! No Episode Captain this week. If you’d like to wear the armband for an episode of Cincinnati Soccer Talk, support us today! Highlights from this week’s show. Daryl Fordyce has spent a few years in North America kicking soccer balls around. He hasn’t spent very much time though in the Queen City. The Northern Ireland striker came over this offseason from FC Edmonton where he was the club’s all-time leader in goals. After being here a few weeks though, Fordyce has quickly noticed the great eatery’s around town, he just can’t remember their names! Rumor has it he’s a big fan of Chipotle though. Who isn’t? Fordyce is struggling for fitness at the moment after being injured after the Charleston match, The Dazzler as he was known as in Edmonton should help raise FC Cincinnati’s goal tally this season. Oh yeah, a rule of thumb, don’t call him The Dazzler around Die Innenstadt. They immediately put the kibosh on that nickname upon his arrival. CST Bus Trip We look back at the 1-0 result against Pittsburgh, but more importantly, we discuss the first ever CST Bus Trip. It was a smashing success! Thank you to all who attended the game, not just on the bus, but EVERYONE! Your presence was certainly felt at Highmark Stadium. I did my absolute best to get around to each and every one of you and introduce myself. If I missed you, I’m very sorry. It just means we’ll have to catch up sometime this summer at Nippert Stadium! We look back at the 1-0 result in Pittsburgh. Were you disappointed that FC Cincinnati could only manage 1 goal against Pittsburgh despite playing with 10 men for 60 minutes in that match? At some point, something other than Djiby’s forehead will score for FC Cincinnati, right? We briefly look ahead to the match this Sunday’s match against the Bethlehem Steel. For an even greater in-depth look at our opponent, this week make sure you download our “March to Matchday” podcast which will be available Thursday. YES! Another USL season opener, another opening season loss for FC Cincinnati. The Orange and Blue are on the wrong side of a 2-1 game. On this week’s show, we recap. One of the bigger topics on the evening was the new ticketing policy for The Bailey. He also dropped some news regarding season tickets possibly being in your mailbox soon. Our very own Boston Brazzell made the trip down to Charleston and he gave us a full report on his journey. From the pictures we’ve seen and friends of the show on social media, it sounds like Charleston provided some great southern hospitality until the teams hit the field. We took a look back at the 2-1 result, opened up the phones and had some discussions surrounding the offense and formations being used at the moment. What did you make of Saturday’s loss in Charleston? What needs correcting? We briefly look ahead to the match this Saturday at 5 PM in Pittsburgh against the Riverhounds. Highlights from this week’s show. We opened up the phone lines and heard from a few fans this week. We asked each caller a few questions. The first being where would FC Cincinnati finish this season in the Eastern Conference? Who will be the leading goalscorer for FC Cincinnati this season? Who will be the team MVP for FC Cincinnati? On Tuesday, FC Cincinnati announced their newest signing, Mélé Temguia, who joins the club from Montreal Impact. We had a chance to catch up with Johnathan Schoepf, the Membership Coordinator for The Legion. Johnathan filled us in on what The Legion have been up to this offseason and what the group is looking forward to achieving in 2017. To find out more information about The Legion, visit their website at thelegionfcc.com. We look ahead at this week’s FC Cincinnati opponent, the Charleston Battery. Of course, we know all too well about the Battery from last season. In the USL opener a year ago, FC Cincinnati battled and nearly walked of Charleston on a rainy night with a 0-0 draw, until the Battery score the winning goal with 20 seconds left in stoppage time. We start off the show by recapping the match vs Sacramento Republic FC. The game ended 2-2 as Harrison Delbridge headed home the equalizer late in stoppage time. Are you concerned with the defense now that it appears Austin Berry may have suffered a significant injury to his arm? What about the offense? Only 6 shots mustered up in that game on Saturday night. Or do you just consider this preseason and don’t take much stock in the performances? FC Cincinnati hosted a watch party at MadTree 2.0 on Saturday night. The club unveiled their highly anticipated alternate kit. A black jersey with gray on the shoulders. Basically, it’s the US Men’s National team kit just in black/gray. The jersey is receiving mixed reviews among FC Cincinnati fans, even some of us staff members have differing viewpoints on the kits. What say you? We opened up the phone lines as well this week and had some great callers. We caught up with Colin Hill from The Bailey Bastards. Colin tells us how the Bastards got their start last season. The 2017 preseason has kicked off and CST was at the team’s first night practice. Plus we’ve got MLS Expansion news and more. Download the podcast today! This week’s episode is sponsored by The Women’s Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. Get your tickets to see US Women’s Soccer legend Abby Wambach speak at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center on March 25th. Visit CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/Abby for more details. Highlights from this week’s show. The captain of this week’s episode are The Brians from the Queen City Mafia! They have generously supported CST over at CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support. You should too! The USL Schedule was FINALLY released this week. FC Cincinnati will start the season off with 3 road matches. They’ll follow that up with a 3-match homestand starting April 15th with Saint Louis FC, USL newcomers Tampa Bay Rowdies and finishing up with Louisville City FC. Their last home match of the regular season falls on September 16th where they’ll face defending USL Champions, New York Red Bulls 2. FC Cincinnati was 1 of 12 cities to throw their names into the ring for MLS Expansion. The deadline to apply came and went this week. Brian Straus from Sports Illustrated wrote a great piece profiling the city of Cincinnati. Check it out here. Our very own Boston Brazzell rang in to chat about FC Cincinnati’s first practice session open to the media. Find out who impressed him the most in this episode. Last but not least we visited with Jared Handra, the new Vice President of Die Innenstadt to discuss the supporters group’s offseason. We also got a glimpse of what’s to come in 2017 from DI. FC Cincinnati Head Coach John Harkes

Jan 26, 2017 - 01:01:03

It only took us 49 episodes, but we FINALLY made it happen! FC Cincinnati Head Coach John Harkes joins us this week on the podcast. John tells us his thoughts on the new roster for 2017 and even offered up his thoughts on Video Assistant Referees. Download it today! The captain of this week’s episode is Tim Bronsil! Tim has generously supported CST over at CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support. You should too! John Harkes is a legend in US Soccer. He’s the first American player to play in the Premier League in England. He got his start in England with Sheffield Wednesday, arguably the greatest club name in England, in my opinion. He went on to play for Derby County and had a loan stint with West Ham United. John then came home stateside when MLS launched in 1996 joining DC United where he helped them win the first ever MLS Cup. He went on to also play for the New England Revolution and Columbus Crew. FC Cincinnati is his first coaching stint after many years as a fantastic broadcaster on ESPN and SiriusXM FC. John discusses the new roster for 2017 and hints that there may be more signings to come. He offers us up his take on Video Assistant Referees though clearly it’s a sore subject amongst many FC Cincinnati faithful. He hasn’t tried Skyline Chili, yet. Tough act to follow but Payne Rankin knocked it out of the park. Payne is the President of The Pride Supporters Group and they have a big event coming up this weekend. The Membership Bash and Scarf Release Party is Friday, January 27th at Molly Malone’s in Covington. Sounds like it’s going to be a great time so don’t miss it! DON’T FORGET! CST Special - Will the Real Division 2 Please Step Up

Dec 29, 2016 - 00:37:49

We told you that we were taking off this week, but Bryan, Boston and Brad decided to give their thoughts on the current Division Two (D2) sanctioning issues with the US Soccer Federation. Hear the guys elaborate on the situation, give the background of both leagues and why D2 matters. Highlights from this week's show. Bryan, Boston and Brad layout the current situation of US Soccer Division Two Professional sanctioning. The United Soccer League (USL) and the North American Soccer League (NASL) have each applied to fill the second tier of professional league in the United States. The current D2 league (NASL) has struggled with losing teams to MLS, financial difficulties, league moves or ownership hardships. Seven teams remain in the NASL, but the league is hoping to find several additional teams to help meet USSF league sanctioning criteria. The current Division Three (D3) league (USL) has grown by leaps and bounds expanding to 30 teams for the 2017 season. However, several clubs are run by MLS franchises and may not meet several standards including staff, stadium or city population sizes. US Soccer has much to consider and the guys will elaborate on how it can impact the American soccer landscape and our local club. Bryan also makes another promise that he might not be able to keep. Remembering the Cincinnati Silverbacks

Dec 14, 2016 - 01:15:16

On this week’s Cincinnati Soccer Talk podcast we take a stroll down Cincinnati soccer memory lane. Remember the Cincinnati Silverbacks professional indoor soccer team? We spend the episode reminiscing about the glory days of professional indoor soccer in the Queen City with special guest Rich Neumann, the former President of the Cincinnati Silverbacks. If you’re curious to know how that team came about, Rich fills us in on all the details in this week’s episode.   Highlights from this week’s show. Captaining our podcast this week is Jesse Gill! Thank you Jesse for supporting our show! If you’d like to become the captain of an episode, support our show today at CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/support. Brad, Bryan, Yosief and I relieve some of our fondest memories of going to Cincinnati Silverbacks games in the Cincinnati Gardens and The Crown (now US Bank Arena). Rich Neumann joins the program and tells us some great stories on getting the franchise started. He also talks about some of his unique memories of running the team, from player purchases to roster and gameday operations. Based on his stories it sounds like he had his hands full. Rich now spends his time working with minor league sports to build new stadiums. The former Silverbacks president is proud of what FCC has achieved but he doesn’t think FC Cincinnati has a chance to get into MLS unless they can build a soccer specific stadium. MLS Cup was this past weekend and we recapped the big match. Congratulations to the Seattle Sounders who won MLS Cup without registering a single shot on target. The CST gang played some trivia this week and gave away a Cincinnati Silverbacks t-shirt courtesy of CincyShirts.com. Thanks guys for providing the shirt!   DON’T FORGET! We’re really excited this week to be joined by the USL Goalkeeper of the Year, Mitch Hildebrandt. Plus we take a look at MLS Expansion. We also dabble in some US Mens National Team discussion as well. Enjoy!   Highlights from this week’s show with Mitch Hildebrandt We welcomed Mitch Hildebrandt to the podcast fresh off of winning the 2016 USL Goalkeeper of the Year Award. Despite sitting for a few years up in Minnesota, Mitch was excited about the opportunity to start something fresh and new with FC Cincinnati. He tells us the exact time he knew that this season would be special for the orange and blue. He’s in love with a few Cincinnati staples as far as food goes, but he’s yet to try one of biggest restaurants near and dear to the Queen City. He talks about some of the goalkeepers he grew up watching and who he idolized, and more importantly, how he became a keeper in the first place. The story will surprise you! We also visited with Chad Smith from The Blue Testament to discuss MLS Expansion. In that recent post he listed FC Cincinnati as the #1 team in his MLS Expansion Power Rankings. DON’T FORGET! Sean Okoli Wants 25 Goals Next Year

Nov 9, 2016 - 00:55:56

What a honor it was this week to chat with the 2016 USL MVP, Sean “Ugo” Okoli! Fresh off his Golden Boot winning campaign we had the chance to catch up with him while he’s back home in Seattle for the offseason. Plus, FC Cincinnati took home some hardware from the USL Sales Summit in San Antonio. An episode wouldn't be complete without #AskYosief some more hard hitting questions.   Here are some highlights of our interview: We welcomed Sean Okoli to the podcast and right away he thanks his teammates for helping him win the award. Sean was excited for the 2016 season but feels he missed a lot of chances. He’s ready to come back in year 2 and wants 25 or more goals in 2017. He didn’t know much about the city of Cincinnati but now that he’s spent a full season in town, he thinks the food around town is tremendous. Jeff Berding recently made a trip around Europe visiting some of the more prolific soccer programs in the world. We #AskYosief some more questions. We hear from Griffin who called in to discuss the idea of moving the Bailey to a different location within Nippert Stadium. DON’T FORGET! USL President Jake Edwards

Oct 29, 2016 - 00:30:18

On this special edition of Cincinnati Soccer Talk we visit with Jake Edwards, the President of USL. Jake took time out of his very busy schedule to fill us in on some developments within US soccer’s structure, particularly Division 2 status. Plus we have breaking news surrounding league rules that we bring you EXCLUSIVELY on Cincinnati Soccer Talk.   Here are some highlights of our interview: Jake talks about his playing days and how he got involved with soccer stateside after a successful career playing in England and for the Charleston Battery. One of the bigger topics Jake is dealing with quite a bit right now is league expansion. He talks about the league’s plans for expansion and why some markets are favored over others. He also doesn’t like to put a cap or limit on how many teams could potentially play in USL. There’s also plans to make USL a 3 division league with a Central Conference hopefully added by the 2018 season. We asked him about the league’s application to USSF regarding Division 2 status. Jake also broke some news surrounding some league rules, particularly the 5-substitution rule. We discuss the off field success of FC Cincinnati as Jake had a hunch this could be a big year for the orange and blue. DON’T FORGET! Oct 5, 2016 - 00:51:16

30,187 tickets were sold for Sunday’s first round playoff loss to the Charleston Battery, 2-1. Despite the close loss, plus a complete jobbing from the referee, there were plenty of positives to take away. Bill, Bryan, Yosief and I recap the 2-1 loss. We all still can’t get over many of you turned up for a match this summer as FC Cincinnati continued to smash attendance records. The officiating in this match was less than stellar, BUT, it wasn’t the reason why FC Cincinnati lost. Mark your calendars, we’ll be taking the show live more often now that we’re in the offseason. Harrison Delbridge - Fans Player of the Year

Sep 28, 2016 - 00:59:58

FC Cincinnati finished the regular season with their 4th consecutive clean sheet with a 1-0 win over Pittsburgh. They finished the year with 56 points which had they played in the Western Conference would have been enough points to have the 1st seed. Now they get set to host their first ever playoff game on Sunday when the Charleston Battery come back to town.   In This Episode Brad, Bill, Yosief and I recap the 1-0 win in Pittsburgh. Sean Okoli scored his 16th goal which was tops in the USL this season. Congratulations Ugo on winning the Golden Boot! We’ve been running our fan poll the past 2 weeks asking for YOUR player of the year. On this week’s episode we award Harrison Delbridge with that honor. He was gracious enough to visit with us to talk about his start in soccer. He also talked about being approached to come to FC Cincinnati and how much that excited him. Plus he compared the Timbers Army in Portland and The Bailey in Cincinnati, they’re very similar. There was some other news surroundings other soccer leagues in this country that may have an effect on the future of USL. In this article by SI’s Brian Straus, the NASL is in for some troubling times ahead. You can also hear more discussion about it on the Inverted Triangle Podcast. We look ahead to the first postseason game against the Charleston Battery, which funny enough, the first regular season USL match featured these exact two teams. Subscribe to CST! Casey Townsend - FC Cincinnati's Newest Member

Sep 21, 2016 - 00:42:36

FC Cincinnati continues to dominate the headlines with their eye popping home attendances this season. Once again, the hottest team in the Queen City broke their own USL single game attendance record with over 24,000 showing up Saturday night. Now with just one more regular season game remaining, fans of the orange and blue are coming out in droves to quickly snatch up those PLAYOFF TICKETS! On to the show!   In This Episode Brad, Michael and I recap the 0-0 draw in Pittsburgh. The first 60 minutes or so of that match were ok. The last 30 minutes was some of the hardest soccer to watch this season. Despite that, FC Cincinnati nearly came away with 3 points when Casey Townsend put a shot off the Pittsburgh crossbar. We were really excited this week to have the newest member of FC Cincinnati join us on the podcast, forward Casey Townsend. Casey talked about the approach to come to Cincinnati and explained why it was a “no brainer” to make the move. He was really impressed with the home crowd on Saturday night. Just how much did he get a touch on the only goal of the game? Casey shares how it was scored as well. The inaugural Cincinnati Soccer Talk Player of the Year Award has been announced. The FC Cincinnati Playoff Push Begins Now

Sep 14, 2016 - 00:37:20

FC Cincinnati went to North Carolina over the weekend and came home with 3 points and a clean sheet. Despite that close scoreline, you can argue that the match was never really in the balance. FC Cincinnati dominated from the opening kick till the final whistle. Next up, two matches in three days for the Orange and Blue.   In This Episode Bryan, Yosief and I recap the win on the road against Wilmington. Good news, the clean sheet returned and it was shared by Mitch Hildebrandt and Dallas Jaye! We are proud to announce we raised $1,100 for Sports Games for Kids during our Inaugural Cincinnati Soccer Talk FootGolf Classic. The inaugural Cincinnati Soccer Talk Player of the Year Award has been announced. Get your votes in people! We look ahead to the final home game at Nippert Stadium this fall against Orlando City B. Sean PK-oli Saves the Day for FC Cincinnati

Sep 7, 2016 - 00:39:54

Talk about squeaky bum time! Whew! A late handball in the box saves FC Cincinnati’s bacon. Say what you want about Sean Okoli but where would this team be without him this season? Certainly not 3rd place I can almost guarantee that! On this week’s episode we look back at the dreadful week that WAS and recap a massive win from Labor Day.   In This Episode Bill, Yosief and I recap the grim performance from midweek last week in Charlotte where FC Cincinnati lost to 10-men Independence. Frankly inexcusable. I know the 3rd goal from Charlotte was a deflected own goal, but even with the man advantage, it never actually appeared that FC Cincinnati has a man advantage. Monday’s win over Saint Louis FC saw FC Cincinnati move from 6th to 3rd in the Eastern Conference standings. I don’t think we can say it enough about just how huge those 3 points may end up at the end of the season. We look ahead to the final matchup against the Wilmington Hammerheads, a team very much in the playoff hunt but are getting desperate and need results, much like FC Cincinnati. Subscribe to CST! FC Cincinnati and MLS with Jason Davis

Aug 24, 2016 - 01:00:18

Even though FC Cincinnati had the weekend off, there was an absolute ton going on around the club. The biggest event, in our opinion of course, was the Inaugural Cincinnati Soccer Talk FootGolf Classic on Saturday. Thanks to all who braved the weather and came out to support a great cause. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event so stay tuned!   In This Episode Brad, Yosief, Bill and I recap the exciting events at Reeves Golf Course and 50 West Brewery at the CST FootGolf Classic. Lots of fun was had by all. FCC President Jeff Berding stopped by along with Francisco Narbón, Michael Millay, Jamie Dell and Álvaro Anton Ripoll. Thanks to you were able to raise over $1,100 for Sports Games for Kids! The event couldn’t have happened though without the support of the Joseph Auto Group, Touchstone Marketing and 513 Shirts. When I first launched CST back in the day, I created a list of names of people that were must have guests on our show. Jason Davis was at the TOP of this list. You may recognize Jason previously as the host of such shows as Soccer Morning and The Best Soccer Show. Now he can be heard Monday-Friday onSiriusXM FC’s United States of Soccer. Jason offers up his take on FC Cincinnati story from the national perspective. We touch on the ongoing story that is MLS expansion and where FC Cincinnati fits into the discussion. What a massive week for FC Cincinnati. They return home on Wednesday night to take on 6th place Rochester and then hit the road to New York to take on 1st place Red Bulls II on Sunday night. Both teams have taken 3 points from the orange and blue this season. We offer up our predictions as always. Subscribe to CST! Want to help support Cincinnati Soccer Talk? Become a subscriber today! WiedeMAN! Free Kick Goal Secures Late Draw

Aug 17, 2016 - 00:47:52

Whew! What a match in Richmond! As much as we want FC Cincinnati to win every match, you’ll take a point on the road in Richmond. The Kickers were one of the hottest teams in USL heading into the match. Andrew Wiedeman’s heroics helped secure a massive point for FC Cincinnati.   On This Episode Bryan, Bill, Brad and I recap the draw in Richmond. A lot of times you’ll see results, for instance the first match against Richmond, where a draw feels like a loss. This was not the case on Saturday night. There were a lot of factors involved Saturday night, the large pitch, the heat index, injuries, etc. The first free kick goal in FC Cincinnati history belongs to Andrew Wiedeman. He scored the first USL goal for the Orange and Blue and now he adds this accolade. Add to it a USL Team of the Week honor as well, his 3rd of the season. Now FC Cincinnati has the weekend off and will need to get rested up for the Rochester Rhinos who make their first trip to Nippert next Wednesday. We’re pleased to be joined this week on the podcast by James Brown and Mike Strauss from Spontaneous Productions. They’re putting together the film “Hometeam Advantage” which is a film about FC Cincinnati. James and Mike fill us in on the project and how you can get involved. We then look ahead to the busy week ahead for all things soccer in the Cincinnati area. Just because there is no match this weekend doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do! We preview them all including our HUGE event Saturday night. We’re still looking for 2 more footgolf teams! To get registered, visit CincinnatiSoccerTalk.com/footgolf. Aug 10, 2016 - 00:40:52

After some much needed, and deserved time off, FC Cincinnati is hitting the road this weekend to take on 4th place Richmond in Virginia Saturday night. Richmond is one of the hottest teams in the USL at the moment so it should be a great matchup.   On This Episode Bryan, Yosief and I recap the win over Montreal. Sean Okoli continues to enjoy playing against Montreal with another 2 goal performance. It also earned him his 4th USL Team of the Week honor this season. The opportunities for more goals were there. Jimmy McLaughlin hit the post, and narrowly missed another goal just wide of the post in the 1st half. Despite the clean sheet, new CB tandem Austin Berry and Even Lee struggled at time against FC Montreal. We discuss the new CST Postgame show that was announced on Monday this week. FC Cincinnati King of the Ohio River

Jul 27, 2016 - 00:59:50

After a tough mid week loss, FC Cincinnati bounces back in spectacular fashion and wins the inaugural River Cities Cup with a 2-0 win over dreaded Louisville City FC. Now the orange and blue continue to face a tough task when the Charleston Battery come to town this weekend.   On This Episode Yosief, Bryan, Michael and I recap the events of last week. FC Cincinnati faced a very tough opponent in the New York Red Bulls last Wednesday and were in a winning position late in the 2nd half but 2 goals put the Baby Bulls ahead of FCC 2-1. More importantly, FC Cincinnati bounced back with a massive 2-0 win over league leaders Louisville. What a performance by the banged up squad. Injuries are hitting the midfield at the worst time. Corbin Bone though put in a shift that was nothing short of spectacular which also earned him team of the week honors. The Dancing Man, Jimmy McLaughlin stops by for his first visit to the CST Podcast. Jimmy fills us in on life in Cincinnati and how even his expectations have been surpassed this season. He also tells us why he wears the number 20 and what exactly the BePositive Foundation means to him. Bryan goes on a rant late in the podcast in response to some posts on Reddit regarding Supporters Groups. Are you in a Supporters Group? What do you make of these comments? Maybe you’re not in a SG? FC Cincinnati: Time to Throwdown

Jul 20, 2016 - 00:58:21

The 2-0 result isn’t what was important from Saturday night’s friendly with Crystal Palace. The biggest takeaway was the 35,061 who showed up to witness a soccer match, the largest in Ohio EVER. The Orange and Blue held their own against their Premier League foe. Despite the week off, this week’s matches provide a massive test to see if FC Cincinnati is ready for the postseason spotlight.   On This Episode Yosief, Brad, Bill and I recap the events of Saturday night. Crystal Palace came to town and knocked off FC Cincinnati 2-0 but the result wasn’t all that important. It was a celebration of soccer in Cincinnati. The South London Times is calling FC Cincinnati the “Most Exciting Soccer Team in America”. Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew even said he’d love to come back to Cincinnati in the future. We look ahead to tonight’s match against New York Red Bulls II, or as we like to call them, the Baby Bulls. There’s a reason they’re sitting in 2nd place in the Eastern Conference folks. This team is legit.   The final leg of the Dirty River Derby will go down on Saturday night when FC Cincinnati plays host to Louisville City FC. It may not be the last time we see these guys if all goes well in the postseason. Our very own Brad Weigel was on Lance McAlister’s radio program Tuesday afternoon to discuss theInaugural Cincinnati Soccer Talk FootGolf Classic. Biggest Game in Cincinnati Soccer History

Jul 14, 2016 - 00:55:31

Well it was a week that saw FC Cincinnati’s unbeaten streak come to an end, but the good news is that the orange and blue started a new streak with a 2-1 win Saturday night. Plus with Barclays Premier League side Crystal Palace visiting the Queen City Saturday night, it’s arguably the biggest soccer event in Cincinnati soccer history!   On This Episode Yosief, Bryan, Bill and I recap the loss to Rochester last week. We also discuss the bounce back against Saint Louis FC on Saturday night. We also were very excited that John Harkes deployed a 4-4-2 formation and it definitely paid off. We visit with Tom Grabo, the CincySportsGuy from Sports Games for Kids. We’re excited to be working with Tom for the Inaugural Cincinnati Soccer Talk FootGolf Classic coming up August 20th at Reeves Golf Course! We also catch up with Crystal Palace supporters group HolmesdaleUSA as a few of them are making the trip to Cincinnati this weekend and beyond for CPFC’s North American tour. The Unbeaten Streak Continues

Jun 29, 2016 - 00:58:49

You know what they say about ties? Well, we’ll take a 0-0 draw against the 1st place team in the Eastern Conference. Especially when you consider that same team came into Nippert back in April and put up 3 first half goals. FC Cincinnati continues to get better with each week and they showed they could hang with the Eastern Conference’s best team. Now they’re back home to take on the team they beat for the first win in franchise history back in April when they faced Bethlehem Steel FC. On to the show!   On This Episode Yosief, Brad, Bryan and I recap the scoreless draw between Louisville City FC and FC Cincinnati. It wasn’t the most entertaining match we’ve ever watched but a point is a point. Brad and Yosief made the trek down to Louisville and each had a great experience. We learned about the Plastic Cup with The Pride and Die Innenstadt bussed people down to the game as well. It sounded like a good time was had by all. More importantly, FC Cincinnati was represented well in Louisville. We discussed some possible lineup changes we’d like to see FC Cincinnati deploy, particularly at forward with Sean Okoli and LB Tyler Polak. Both have done great things this year for the club but there have been issues with both. Should John Harkes rotate the lineup or are you happy with where this team is at? We hit up the mailbag and Twitter to answer some listener questions. We wrapped up the episode by looking ahead to Saturday’s 6 PM match against Bethlehem Steel FC. Introducing the Queen City Firm

Jun 16, 2016 - 00:56:52

Thanks for all your patience during our absence last week. Unfortunately schedules wouldn’t cooperate and we couldn’t get a podcast recorded. But we’re happy to be back! Thanks for all your feedback as well. With summer being here and vacations looming, it’s going to be tougher to do these shows but we will do our absolute best to get it done! Just like FC Cincinnati is getting things done on the pitch with another win over the weekend.   On This Episode Yosief, Bill, Bryan and I recap the 2-1 win over FC Montreal. It was great to see forward Sean Okoli score from the run of play. He also slotted home a PK for the other goal. Watch out for this ugly trend, FC Cincinnati giving up late goals. It seems to be happening frequently. We also had the chance to visit with the newest FCC Supporter Group, The Queen City Firm. We had a chance to chat with founders Jeremy Burnett and Ryan Cocola. Hear what these gentlemen had to say about their ideas and thoughts about starting a new SG. The club announced some new rules this week surrounding the Bailey. Bryan was not happy about it. Lastly, we gave our thoughts on the upcoming home match against Toronto FC II, a team that’s struggling in the Eastern Conference. Please help us learn a bit more about you! FC Cincinnati Keeps on Winning

Jun 1, 2016 - 00:46:01

What rust? Despite having an unexpected week off from action, FC Cincinnati continues their unbeaten streak after a 2-0 win over the visiting Harrisburg City Islanders. It was a physical match to say the least. Now the Orange and Blue have a tough week ahead with two matches in four days.   On This Episode Yosief, Brad, Bryan and I recap the 2-0 win over Harrisburg. One of the major talking points from that match was the red card for Harrisburgh’s Aaron Wheeler after he elbowed CB Harrison Delbridge in the face when the two jumped for a header. Not to mention the kick to the face just before halftime that was missed by everyone during the broadcast. FC Cincinnati hits the road on Wednesday night to take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the US Open Cup. We debated whether or not you put out a roster that features a lot of backups so that you can save your starters for this weekend’s match against the Richmond Kickers. Do you sacrifice the Open Cup to focus on the USL slate? It’s an interesting debate. Speaking of the Richmond Kickers, they’ll make their first visit to Nippert Stadium on Saturday night at 7 pm. Richmond is coming off an ugly loss to the worst team in the Eastern Conference this past weekend. In other words, you know they’re going to look to bounce back in a big way. Can the winning train continue to roll Saturday night? As I mentioned in the show, check out our podcast survey here: Click Here to take part in our survey. FC Cincinnati Gets International

May 25, 2016 - 00:50:42

Even though FC Cincinnati had the weekend off, the club still continued to make news last week. Their match against Charlotte was rained out 2 days prior to the match. Despite the rainout, FC Cincinnati announced their international friendly coming up in July. They also notched their first win in US Open Cup history when they knocked off Indy Eleven NPSL.   On This Episode Bill Wolf and Michael Walker recap their experience at Nippert last week during FC Cincinnati’s US Open Cup debut win over Indy Eleven NPSL. We also discussed the next matchup in the tournament and what it means if they win. If they win, they’ll head up north to face the Columbus Crew at a neutral venue in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Boo. We also were stoked to hear that FC Cincinnati will be hosting FA Cup Finalist, Crystal Palace, in a summer friendly on July 16th. Who would have thought that in Year 1 of this franchise, the Barclays Premier League would be calling? That’s exciting news for our city as well as the club. Last but not least, we look ahead to Saturday’s home date against the Harrisburg City Islanders. This is a side that drew with FC Cincinnati a few weeks ago at home. They’re coming off a 2-1 win over Toronto FC on Tuesday night. Should be a solid matchup at Nippert Saturday night! Record Breakers, Again

May 17, 2016 - 00:56:20

Well done Cincinnati! 23K showed up to watch FC Cincinnati knock off those pesky Riverhounds from Pittsburgh. It wasn’t the prettiest performance but defensively it was stellar. Harrison Delbridge, Paul Nicholson and Mitch Hildebrandt all contributed to the first clean sheet in team history. Now the club faces another busy week as they’ve got two matches to prepare for. On This Episode We welcome Bill Wolf to the podcast this week. We also recap the win for the orange and blue this weekend. Something we’ve noticed already, FC Cincinnati will be receiving everyone’s best shot this year. Despite the tumultuous week in Pittsburgh, they came out and played FC Cincinnati well. We were visited this week by Jeff Smith, the VP for Ticketing and Sales for FC Cincinnati. Jeff talks about the movement that's taking place with soccer in this town and region. We also look ahead to Wednesday night’s Open Cup match as FC Cincinnati plays host to Indy Eleven NPSL. FCC will then close out the week by traveling down to Charlotte for leg 2 of the Queen City Cup. As I mentioned in the show, check out our podcast survey here: Click Here to take part in our survey. #OrangeOut

May 11, 2016 - 00:59:32

It was an interesting week for FC Cincinnati. A road trip to Florida and Pennsylvania last week made for some challenges, especially when you factor in the weather in Orlando last Wednesday. Regardless of the results, 4 points in 2 road matches in one week is solid. Now this week they play host to new rival the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at 4 PM Saturday afternoon. Wear orange! On This Episode Michael Walker made his triumphant return to the pod this week along with Brad Weigel and Yosief Tzeghai. We each broke down the two road matches. We were excited for the 3-1 win in Orlando but largely disappointed with the 1-1 result against struggling Harrisburg. We also discuss the announcement this week that the Cincinnati Bengals and a few of their players are going to be honorary captains at Saturday's match. Plus, club owner Carl Linder III has personally written to FC Cincinnati fans to attend Saturday's match and help to surpass 25,000 tickets sold. BIG NUMBER. We look ahead to Saturday's 4 PM kickoff between the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and FC Cincinnati. As I mentioned in the show, check out our podcast survey here: Click Here to take part in our survey. The Dreaded Tie

May 3, 2016 - 01:00:50

Well done FC Cincinnati faithful! On a rain soaked Saturdaynight at Nippert Stadium you still managed to pack the house withover 11,000 fans! Serious kudos are in order. Right now FCCincinnati is averaging 15,491 per game which is tops in the USL.Let’s hope that average continues to rise through the summer. Asfor the game itself, we discuss that and more on this week’spod. On This EpisodeYou know what they say about tie games? I don’t need to repeatthat here. It was two points dropped though on Saturday night as FCCincinnati finished the match 1-1 with Wilmington. MitchHildebrandt’s PK save was amazing, unfortunately the ensuing cornerresulted in a goal for the Hammerheads. But former Wilmington starPaul Nicholson leveled the match early in the 2nd half.We were joined on the show this week by Pat Brennan from TheCincinnati Enquirer. Pat’s been fortunate to cover the FCCincinnati beat for our local newspaper. He fills us in on theearly season storylines and also a bit of background on how hebecame a soccer journalist. This week features two matches, one on Wednesday night againstOrlando City B and Saturday night against the Harrisburg CityIslanders, both of which are on the road. Instant Offense Omar Cummings

Apr 27, 2016 - 00:55:01

After losing in disappointing fashion the week before, FC Cincinnati bounces back with a big road win in Canada over the weekend when they came back and knocked off Toronto FC II 2-1. Goals by Andrew Wiedeman and Mr. Instant Offense Omar Cummings helped bring the orange and blue back for good. Oh yeah, there was this certain save by GK Mitch Hildebrandt that MAY have helped as well. There’s another big home game coming up on Saturday night at Nippert Stadium. We hope to see you fill it up!  On This Episode On this week’s show we started off by recapping the win over Toronto. We offered up our Men of the Match and marveled at the amazing save from Mitch Hildebrandt. #SCTOP10 We were joined on the show this week by Asst. Coach Ryan Martin from FC Cincinnati. Ryan chats with us about his start in professional soccer and just how he get got involved early on with FC Cincinnati and Coach Harkes. Plus he fills us in on his favorite soccer bar in town. This week we also feature Die Innenstadt, one of the large supporter groups. Timo Brightenstein, who serves as the VP of the Group, is a lifelong Borussia Dortmund fan and season ticket holder. He’s been able to share his SG experience with many fans of FC Cincinnati and help to make the gameday atmosphere feel like home. FC Cincinnati Breaking Records

Apr 20, 2016 - 00:59:27

Never in my lifetime did I ever expect that a soccer team in Cincinnati would have over 20,000 people attend it. I was honored and excited to be a part of history on Saturday night when FC Cincinnati broke a regular season attendance record in their 3-2 loss to River City Rival, Louisville City FC.   On This Episode Talk about a bag of mixed emotions. We open up the show by discussing the loss to Louisville. Lot of issues defensively on Saturday night. Particularly in the first half. We then get into the stadium atmosphere where the mood seemed to lighten up a bit. The supporters groups have been absolutely on point, whether you’re a member of The Pride, Die Innenstadt or The Legion, you all deserve a ton of credit. On this week’s podcast we’re joined again by the founder of The Pride Supporter Group, Payne Rankin. Payne discussed the difficulties the supporters groups have had in the first two home matches. He’s also very excited about the future of the club as well as the groups. We do our best to tackle Toronto FC II. Doesn’t it seem odd to one week play in front of nearly 21,000 people and now this week you follow that up with a possible sell out crowd of 2,500. TFC II has some talent though offensively and may just be able to put a few balls in the back of the net. Don’t forget you can now download and subscribe to Cincinnati Soccer Talk on iTunes today! Gotta Goetta W

Apr 13, 2016 - 00:58:17

The home opener on Saturday night was an amazing experience and things just keep getting better for fans of FC Cincinnati because Louisville is coming to town this week. Time to bring your A-game! Let's show that team down the river how soccer is played in the Queen City! On This Episode We opened this week's show by recapping FC Cincinnati's first home win in club history 2-1 over the Charlotte Independence in front of 14,658 rowdy fans at Nippert Stadium. Brad Weigel also makes his triumphant return to the podcast after spending the weekend watching golf. We're super pumped this week because FC Cincinnati forward Andrew Wiedeman joined us on the podcast to discuss his first goal, which just so happened to be the first USL goal in FC Cincinnati history. Andrew also tells us how he's adjusted to life in the Queen City and fills us in on his hair secrets. From the nightlife to the local restaurants, Andrew seems to really enjoy being part of this town. He's even eager to try some goetta! So with one home game in the books, it's time to compete for another cup, this time it's the River Cities Cup. Louisville City FC makes the short trip up to Cincy for their first visit to Nippert. FC Cincinnati Gets First USL Win, Saturday's Home Opener

Apr 6, 2016 - 00:52:06

How about that! FC Cincinnati gets out to an early 2-0 lead and hangs on for dear life to finish on top 2-1 over Bethlehem Steel on Sunday. Congrats to Coach Harkes on the first win in his coaching career. Congrats to the entire organization on the first USL win in club history, #3Points. Now to the show! On This Episode We opened this week's show by recapping FC Cincinnati's first win in club history! Andrew Wiedeman scores the first goal in club history and Sean Okoli follows up shortly after to get the good guys off to a great start. Bethlehem Steel were forced to finish the match with 10 men and it seemed to improve them as they scored in stoppage time, and hit the bar a 2nd time as well. FC Cincinnati escapes Pennsylvania with their first 3 points in USL history. Who was your Man of the Match? We give out our MOTM awards as well. Harrison Delbridge was named to this week's USL Team of the Week. FC Cincinnati also announced surpassing the 5,000 mark of season tickets sold, 10,000 seats sold for Saturday night's home opener against the Charlotte Independence. Tough Loss to Start, FC Cincinnati Preps for Bethlehem Steel

Mar 30, 2016 - 00:41:49

I've watched a lot of soccer in my lifetime being a fan of one of that red team in Manchester. I've subscribed to MLS DirectKick the past four seasons, I'll even sit down and watch Liga MX en Español. Saturday night was first for me. I was so excited to watch FC Cincinnati launch their inaugural season on Saturday night. I can't say I've ever sat through an entire soccer match on Youtube. Check that experience off my bucket list. Even with all the matches I've seen in my life, Saturday night's loss felt different to me. Maybe it's because I actually have a connection to a team for the first time in my life. Here's to hoping the good guys can start their winning ways this weekend in Pennsylvania. On to the show! On This Episode We opened this week's show by discussing the great turnout by fans at Rhinehaus to watch FC Cincinnati take on Charleston Battery. It was a fantastic game to watch online as well. Despite the 1-0 loss, there were some positives to take away from this match. What were the positives YOU took away from this match? We also looked ahead to Sunday's match against Bethlehem Steel. The Steel are coming off a 1-0 win over FC Montreal in Canada on Friday night to kick off the USL season. Just like Charleston's goal was a fluke against us, Bethlehem's goal was a bit of a fluke as well. We finished up the show by discussing the upcoming meet and greet on Thursday night at Rheingeist. Plus season tickets have mailed out to season ticket holders! Have you received yours? What are your thoughts? Plus we also give our score predictions for Sunday's Bethlehem Steel - FC Cincinnati match. Don't forget you can now download and subscribe to Cincinnati Soccer Talk on iTunes today! FC Cincinnati and the USL Season is Finally Here

Mar 23, 2016 - 00:52:43

It may have only been a friendly on Friday night, but the FC Cincinnati faithful packed the house at Xavier to watch the orange and blue in their first game in the Queen City. What a spectacular turnout. The supporters groups were out in force and working together on chants and marching to the game. The Listermann's event prior to the game sounded like it was a hit as well. It almost feels like the 2-0 win over the Muskies was just a side note to the night. It was great to see FC Cincinnati close out their preseason unbeaten though as they get set to head down to Charleston to take on a very tough Battery side. On This Episode We opened this week's show by discussing the great turnout by fans to the friendly at Xavier. Bryan recapped quite elegantly here. Oh by the way, there was a game on Friday night and it finished 2-0 to the good guys. We were really excited to have back on the program Chad Hollingsworth from the USL Show and Scratching the Pitch. Chad was impressed with the preseason that FC Cincinnati had and thinks they have a loaded roster, one that can possibly compete for the Eastern Conference crown. We finished up the show by discussing the radio debut of the John Harkes Show from the Moerlein Lager House in downtown Cincinnati. Our very own Brad Weigel was there representing CST. Yours truly was proud to be the first caller in the history of the program too. #humblebrag Plus we also give our score predictions for Saturday night's USL opener for FC Cincinnati and more.
